The Why

Why (The Purpose):  I believe that we must inspire and prepare our diverse population for post graduation and life success.

How (The Process): To do this, I will create a variety of digital resources that the students and their families will be able to keep with them indefinitely.

What (The Result):  I prepare the diverse population to become closer to success in job reediness and independence skills,

Reflection on The Why

When I started my innovation project, I was working with my previous school district Barbers Hill ISD. At Barbers Hill, new teachers and students are always asked “Have you drank the blue Kool-Aid, yet?” Teachers and Staff come to the location of convocation like a wave of blue filling the room, they wear blue every Friday of the school year, and they sing “I’m so Glad I Go to Barbers Hill” at every football game and pep rally.

I had this idea as I was creating my ePortfolio and my innovation plan. To grab this districts hearts and attention, I started my ePortfolio with a welcome page. On my welcome page I have a picture of me wearing my blue dress on convocation day of my first year with Barbers Hill ISD.

Kindergarten- 12th grade are the years the special population children have the most time and support to help them grow in their job readiness and independence skills. Educators go through lots of trainings to improve their skills on teaching all the children in our nation and world. The time is now for educators to use the skills we were taught in our preparation programs to set our special population for success after they leave our hands by graduating into the real world.
