Science:
State of Matter

Instructional Design Video

I spent many hours planning my online course on the states of matter. I used the Finks 3-column table as a guide for organizing my content. I also referred to the Iowa 5th grade state science standards to ensure that my course aligned with those standards.

When I created my course, I used Canvas to ensure that it would be visually appealing and engaging for all students. I intentionally designed the course for a diverse student population, and included interactive videos with captions and activities that allowed students to choose how they wanted to demonstrate their knowledge and application of the material. I also incorporated a variety of multimedia formats, including images, videos, and audio clips. The course is designed to accommodate students with different learning styles and preferences.

Usability Testing Results Video

After planning and creating my course, I gathered a diverse group of stakeholders to help me conduct a usability test. The survey asked several questions, including those related to the content, navigation, instruction, and pace of the course. I also allowed my stakeholders to provide additional feedback. The results of the usability test were eye-opening. I was able to identify a few areas where the course could be improved, and I made those changes.
