How to Approach Crucial Conversations

Updated: Oct 10, 2023

As an individual with Autism, I find myself with lots of emotions going into meetings and everyday conversations. For example, what if I say there wrong thing, what if it comes off wrong, will I loose eye contact, will my body language show a different emotion than how I am really feeling, etc. As I walk into these meetings, I need to remember who I am, why I am here, and what I can do? As I walk through these thoughts, I need to remember the 7 steps to get through a crucial conversation. In each step I need to remember the questions that I must analyze to remember my personal boundaries within the conversation.

Going into crucial conversations can be hard, but as long as I keep it positively moving, success will be at the end of the path. We must listen, prepare, analyze, and carry out crucial conversations in our daily lives. This includes looking at self-differentiation leadership, and determine who I am, why I am here, and how can I improve?
