The Magic of Digital Platforms

Updated: Feb 25

Before Creating My Video

When preparing on how I would create my video I reflect back on the first video that I ever did in the Applied Digital Learning  (ADL) program to catch the eye of my audience. I was reminded of a tool that I use very often to create a variety of authentic projects. Canva allows me to successfully create an authentic project that meets personal needs. Before I started
the process, I was also able to envision what my intended audience would be able to take away from my final and finished product. My goal was for the audience to know the magic digital platforms can do for struggling writers and that there is an article  they can read that provides them with the features that some digital platforms have to offer for these learners

The Planning and Constructing of My Video

First, I was able to explore all the templates and elements that Canva had to offer to make a video with slides that would allow me to accomplish my overall goal that I had in mind. Then I was able to sit down and write up a script that would go with the narrations of each slide on my final video. While waiting on the feedback on my script from collaboration group members, I was able to add and takeaway graphics and texts in the template slide I found within the Canva platform. After receiving the feedback the final stage of making my video was on its way. I was able to use the voice recorder to narrate my slides that I had put together to make a collaborative and authentic project. To have these resources at my fingertips was beneficial and enjoyable during the entire video making process.

Reflection After Creating My Video

After creating my video, I was able to take the time to reflect on how it is related to my overall innovation plan within my ADL program experience.  Using these features and platforms is a way of adopting the Universal Design of Learners (UDL) approach in their classrooms and environments.  These tools allow educators to promote a student-centered environment.  Writing barriers are removed and students will be able to learn and practice new writing skills in a way that meets their needs.
