Using a Growth Mindset

The Power of Yet is extraordinarily strong, and a suitable place to start growing your growth mindset. When you look at an obstacle, challenge, or failure, use the power of yet to grow from those circumstances. Using not yet (growth mindset) will change how I think to a more positive way. When I see grades as feedback on our performance, rather than as a measure of our intelligence or worth, it can help us to stay motivated and keep learning.

Looking at the feedback from professors, classmates, and colleagues with a growth mindset will allow me to look at their feedback in several positive ways of growing. Instead of looking at it as I messed up, I will never get it right, etc., I will look at the feedback as an opportunity to grow and do better in the tasks in which the feedback was received. I will make the necessary corrections that will lead me to growing as an individual.

As I teach my students this year with our new SEL program, we will look at seven different mindsets that can help me and my students learn and build our growth mindset. During school and in my personal life I will continue to model our school vision, which is to grow together and serve others.
